Airborne Sensor and System Support Engineer

As an Airborne Sensor and System Support Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Outline Global’s national aerial imagery and LiDAR operations, both remotely and on-site.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will collaborate closely with our Operations and Engineering teams to ensure seamless system functionality and operational excellence.

This is a key role to support our high growth, high performing, private equity-backed business.

The Role:

Your success in this role will be aligned with the following key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring continued serviceability of Outline’s Gtech™ camera pods and LX Lidar systems.
  • Integrating, validating and testing engineering systems and associated software.
  • Providing technical support to our capture team and troubleshooting system/software issues.
  • Managing system inventory, spares, and standardising hardware across all systems.
  • Operational logistics to facilitate efficient and timely data capture.
  • Overseeing aviation certification and regulatory compliance of sensor systems in a variety of aircraft.
  • Collaborating with third party vendors for system design and integration.
  • Contributing to the design and development of new sensor systems for custom applications.
  • Assisting training material development and providing training as needed.
  • Providing system and software design, integration, and engineering for commercial operations.
  • Providing aviation mission and flight planning support.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Engineering Qualification preferred.
  • Strong technical/engineering mindset with analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • 3 + years relevant industry and experience, familiarity with airborne sensor systems. Specific knowledge and experience with PhaseOne and Riegl systems would be an advantage.
  • Experience with inflight and aerial survey operations.
  • Working knowledge of optimised flight planning for different systems and scenarios.
  • Willingness to travel for remote support and onsite troubleshooting.

Entry Level - Geospatial Data Technician/Photogrammetrist

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Analyst or Technician you will be in the engine room of Outline Global’s operations.  Using our custom captured data, you may perform a range of tasks including:

  • Using photogrammetric software to produce orthomosaics and 3D surface models
  • Processing and manipulating LiDAR data to extract features and produce 3D surface models
  • Quality assurance and accuracy analysis during and prior to product delivery in various data formats
  • Use and understanding of scripts supporting the streamlining of processes and the development and implementation of AI models
