General Manager of Capture

Lead the capability that captures reality

Outline Global is one of Australia’s most trusted providers of aerial imagery, LiDAR and location-based artificial intelligence. From our proprietary Gtech™ camera and LiDAR systems to our aviation fleet and network of partners, we capture high-fidelity geospatial data that helps mining, government, environmental and infrastructure clients make better decisions about the real world.

We’re now looking for a General Manager of Capture to take overall leadership accountability for our end-to-end data capture capability. This is a rare opportunity to bring our Aviation, Sensors, Technology and Engineering Support functions together as one integrated, high-performing capability, and to shape how we scale it for the future.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, the GM of Capture owns the strategic direction, operational performance, and commercial success of our entire capture division.

You’ll ensure these functions operate as a single, coordinated capability that captures high-quality imagery and LiDAR data safely, efficiently, and at the scale and quality our business and clients’ demand. You’ll set the strategy, own delivery and commercial performance, develop the division’s leaders, and make sure it’s properly resourced to meet its safety, regulatory and delivery obligations.

What you’ll do

Strategy & capability leadership

  • Set and own the strategy for our capture capability across aviation and engineering, aligned to company objectives.
  • Integrate aviation, sensors, technology and support engineering into a single coordinated capability with clear hand-offs and aligned ways of working.
  • Anticipate future capacity, capability, and investment needs, and build the business to secure them.
  • Contribute to company-wide strategy and decision-making as part of the Executive Leadership Team.

Operational & commercial performance

  • Establish and monitor performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Plan and resource capture capacity to meet committed timelines and support large tender bids and growth.
  • Manage the division’s operating budget, capital investment and cost performance.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Processing and Insights to align capture execution with client commitments and commercial outcomes.

People & leadership

  • Lead, develop and support the leaders of the aviation and engineering functions.
  • Ensure each function is appropriately structured and staffed with suitably qualified, experienced and competent people.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement, with clear expectations and strong succession planning.

Technology & engineering direction

  • Work with the CTO to set the technology roadmap for capture systems and engineering support.
  • Ensure systems are maintained to the readiness and reliability standards operations require.
  • Prioritise technology and engineering investment against operational and commercial value.

Safety, risk & compliance

  • Ensure the division is resourced and structured to meet its critical safety, airworthiness and regulatory obligations, including those under the CASA Air Operating Certificate (AOC) and BARS.
  • Support the Aviation Accountable Manager, Chief Pilot and Safety Manager in sustaining a strong safety culture while respecting the independence of the safety function.
  • Keep safety as the non-negotiable foundation of all capture operations.

About you

Essential

  • Australian permanent residency or citizenship is required for this position.
  • A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience across operational, technical, or engineering functions.
  • Familiarity with AOC and civil aviation regulatory frameworks, safety management systems and ability to meet the CASA Accountable Manager requirements.
  • A proven ability to translate strategy into operational delivery and commercial results, with a genuinely hands-on approach that is willing to work on the workshop floor.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget and capital investment management.
  • A track record of leading, developing and supporting operational and technical team leaders.
  • The ability to integrate diverse functions and align them toward shared objectives.
  • A sound understanding of operating in a safety-critical, regulated environment.

Desirable

  • Experience in aviation, remote sensing, geospatial or a related technical industry.
  • Understanding of sensor systems (imagery and LiDAR), data capture workflows and downstream data processing.
  • Experience overseeing technology development and/or engineering functions.

What you’ll bring

You set a clear vision and bring people with you, being visible, accessible, and inspiring. You exercise sound judgement under pressure, weighing operational, commercial and safety factors before deciding.

You’re a strategic thinker who’s just as comfortable engaging with operational and technical detail when it matters, and you build trust and alignment across diverse teams, clients and external suppliers.

You’re proactive and solutions-oriented, hold yourself and others to account firmly and fairly, and you act with integrity in every dealing with staff, regulators, and clients.

Above all, you’re deeply committed to a culture of safety and operational excellence, and willing to roll up your sleeves to support your team, leading by example with the most mundane of tasks.

Why Outline Global

  • Take the reins of a critical, business-wide capability at an industry-leading Australian innovator.
  • A seat at the Executive Leadership Team and real influence over company execution.
  • Work with proprietary, best-of-breed technology and a national aviation fleet.
  • Help build the resources and systems to support and scale a growing business built on quality, reputation, and steadfast delivery.
